How to Transform Your Spring/Summer Dress & Skirt into a Fall/Winter Essential

As much as we enjoy wearing sweaters, coats, and boots during the colder weather months, sometimes there are items from our spring and summer wardrobe we may want to incorporate into the winter one. This happens a lot with dresses and skirts. Even though there are dresses and skirts made specifically for when the weather outside is frightful, I cannot count how many times I have included my warm season clothing into my fall/winter outfits. Below are a few ways to successfully create an outfit that is fashionable and practical for the fall/winter season:

Solution 1: Dresses and Layering

Simply put a long sleeve top or turtleneck underneath and you will have the best layers needed for the cooler weather. Another way to bring a spring/summer dress into the winter wardrobe is by opting for a sweater on top of it. This brings an element of versatility that can lead to interesting and creative combinations and allows the wearer to take it off at any time.

Solution 2: Fun Tights or Leggings with Dresses & Skirts

Improve your layering abilities even further with tights and leggings that have different patterns or thicker fabric such as wool. Sometimes knee-highs can serve the same purpose as well, especially when they are knitted or made from warmer fabric. You can also do this in addition to adding a nice sweater and/or a coat to complete the ensemble.

Solution 3: Adding Knee-High Boots/Tall Boots

Another great way to bring your spring/summer dresses and skirts into the fall/winter season is by including knee-high boots or tall boots into the look. This can be an enjoyable way of using footwear as a way of bringing a winter outfit together.
